Automatic Suspicion

This list is stuff I do not like. If you like some of this stuff, it doesn't mean we can't still be friends. My husband has like 6 of these. If you are offended because your favorite items are listed here, please go away and get yourself some nice water or something and calm down. I'm just some girl on the web. What do I know?

Cats
Dogs are better!
Mullets
See the website
Chris Farley
He was never funny and he's certainly not funnier now that he's dead.
Renaissance Faires
God help me— I went to an arts high school and I have had enough of guys who make their own boots and call girls "wench" to last me several lifetimes, thank you very much.
Brews own beer
This is one of the ones my husband does, though not so much anymorel.
Christian, Corporate or TV bashing to be seen as PC
Living in San Francisco, we see a lot of this. I know that Christianity (and most other religions, for that matter), corporations and TV have serious negative qualities, but I get sick of people bashing these things because everyone around them is doing it.
"The Man"
We also hear a lot of bitching about "The Man" in SF.
"It's God's will"
No, it isn't. Sometimes things just happen. Sorry.
Men who wear shoes without socks
Gross (Leo: sandals without socks are okay. Hee!)
Cruises
"Oh, but they just PAMPER you, and the food is so good and there are always buffets!" Exactly. No thank you.
Stage voice
This usually results in a whole mess of dropped "r"s. I think it happens when people want to sound British or something.
D&D/ EverQuest
Sorry, Dave and Shannon. And Arateva.
"Santa Fe" style interior decorating
E.G., pastels
Precious Moments and other "figurines"
Bad and evil dust collectors... though I do love these. Sweet Jeebus!
Hello Kitty cars
You see a lot of these around the Daly City/ South San Francisco area. Brightly colored souped-up Accords and Civics with huge rear spoilers, usually driven by young Korean boys.
Mime
Arts Magnet High School is to thank for this. If you went there...you know.
New Age music
See above.
Wine coolers
They are just wrong.
Frats and sororities
At UT, the worst place for rape was the West End, where all the frats are. I have a friend who was in a sorority at Northwestern and she swears that it's a different situation up there. And my non-rapist friend Dave Meowovich was totally involved in his fraternity in college. Even so...
Bowling and putt-putt
Please just jam a fork in my eye instead.
Misuse of apostrophes, "its" and "it's", etc.
If you want to see a large public display of this, go to Florida. You will see signs for "Sallads" and "Hamburger's."
Garfield and Kathy comic strips
Not even remotely humorous.
Pop-stars who refer to themselves as a "diva"
Celine, Whitney, Mariah, and all to come
If your friends are all a lot older or a lot younger than you
I dated a guy once who was 14 years older than me. All of his friends were about my age. Why didn't this clue me in? I'm not that bright.
Performance art
I've given it a fair shake, and I give up.
Dream catchers
Kitchy bastardization of something that I think has some actual meaning.
Cliches
Very LCD and I don't understand why people respond so well to them. It is cool, though, when you're late for something because of something you should have done earlier but didn't, and you realize, "oh, a stitch in time really does save nine."
Vegans
It is hard to go out to dinner with a vegan when you're not a vegan without someone feeling like they got shafted.

Former list items:
Star Trek
I saw Trekkies and changed my mind about Star Trek.
Military
I used to be really anti-military, but now I think that the Coast Guard and Air Force are actually kind of cool.
Corporate speak
Used to annoy me, but now I just think it's funny. AMEX was the worst. They wanted us to use "communication modules" to talk to each other. Oy.
Musicals
I used to really dislike musicals, but the older I get, the more I just want to be entertained when I go out. I don't want to see some heavy drama about abuse or whatever. Plus, musicals are SO MUCH MORE FUN to be in than straight plays. You have no idea!... unless you do.
Martial arts
I'm not into it, but I'm not annoyed by it either.

"I'm in a band"
Again, see "corporate speak."
